Shah Rukh Khan reveals his first Guru and role of a monkey in Delhi’s Ramleela

A lot of actors are arrogant. A lot of them are cocky. But a very few are witty. Shah Rukh Khan is the King of comebacks when it comes to interviews and was at his wittiest best during his interview for Asian Variety Show with the show host Karan Singh Chhabra. Shah Rukh Khan recently confessed to Karan that his name reminded him of his first mentor, Dr. Chhabra, who organized a ramleela in Delhi‘s Rajendra Nagar commonly called as Chhabra’s RamLeela and he lost his stage fright while participating in it  during his teenage years.

"I was cast as a monkey with a long tail. It was a good start for me and a great platform to showcase my talent. I would mimic Prithviraj Kapoor and even do shayaris. That's how I lost the fear of crowds. It gave me a lot of confidence, performing live in front of thousands of people," he said.

There wasn’t much pressure to emote or learn lines. The Vanar sena (An army of monkeys) was only required to eat bananas and march into Ravana’s kingdom. Sometimes he was filler between the acts, reciting his poems to the restless audience and people used to give him one or two rupees at times for his effort. It was the first time he was paid to perform he added.

Shah rukh Khan played the game “Never Have I ever” for the first time where he demonstrated his witty side to the fullest. Delighted to play this game with the super star, show host and Television actor Karan Singh Chhabra said “Games such as this one "reveal interesting things about the participants and help give more insights about them, Players often admit to things that they previously had not and same was the case with king khan.”

Chhabra is a Mumbai based Software Engineer by Profession and began his journey as a model on Indian Ramps.  He is known as one of the first turbaned models in the Indian fashion industry having walked the runway at Lakme Fashion Week, FDCI Amazon India Couture Week.

His stint in Bollywood began with a film called Chalk n Duster with Juhi Chawla and has appeared in a lot of television soaps such as Savdhan India , Code Red, Twist Wala Love , Mtv Loveschool to name a few and is currently seen doing cricket commentary for Box Cricket League on Colors TV as well.

The show is an international talk show Established in North America in 1987, called Asian Variety Show which telecasts on Sony TV in all the countries of North American continent and other digital platforms worldwide.
