UrbanClap commemorates ‘International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women’ with a unique initiative


Organizes Self-defense programme exclusively for women in Chennai

New Delhi, December 1st, 2016 : - UrbanClap, India’s largest mobile services marketplace, organized a Self-defense training programme exclusively for women to mark the occasion of ‘International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women’ on 26th November, 2016. The event took place in Chennai, and was led by Self-defense instructor, D. Ramesh.

The ‘International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women’ is observed worldwide on its official date, i.e. 25thNovember, 2016, and is a part of the United Nations’ 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign. Known for its regular CSR activities that address various social issues, UrbanClap hopes to raise its voice towards gender-based violence in India through this unique activity, and encourage women to fight for their basic rights.

Commenting on the activity, Mr. Abhiraj bhal(Co-founder,UrbanClap) said, "At UrbanClap, apart from giving our professionals the training to perform their jobs well, the overall development too is an agenda we are very focused on. The day long activity was held on Jeeva Park, GN Chetty road, T-Nagar, Chennai, and was led by Self-defense instructor, D. Ramesh. Apart from the general public, many UrbanClap professionals also participated in the event.
