New Delhi, July 26, 2016: The World Bank in its 2016 ‘Doing Business’ Report has acknowledged Tata Power Delhi Distribution’s contribution towards improving the ease of getting electricity connection by making the process for getting a new connection simpler and faster.
The World Bank report ‘Doing Business 2016’ measures and compares regulation relevant to small and medium size businesses in 189 economies . For this, World Bank uses 10 indicators. ‘Getting Electricity’ has emerged as the sole indicator which has resulted in improvement in India’s ranking. The ranking of India in ‘Getting Electricity’ has improved by whopping 67 points from 137 in 2015 to 70 in 2016. In fact, faster and enhanced convenience in ‘Getting Electricity’ has been the biggest contributor in making India improves its position by 12 ranks climbing to 130 as compared to 142 a year ago in terms of the overall Ease of Doing Business.
Besides ‘Getting electricity’, India has also improved on two other indicators – Starting a business and Dealing with construction permits. But the improvement on these indicators is only by 9 and 1 point respectively.
Notably, Tata Power-DDL has eliminated an internal wiring inspection by the Electrical Inspectorate—and now instead of two inspections only one is need for the same.
