Chandigarh, July 26, 2016: Honourable Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi's 'Digital India' dream is inching closer to reality with the CSC Forum bridging the undemocratic urban-rural digital divide in the country.
Members of the CSC Forum have contributed significantly to Digital India having trained over 260,000 individuals in various e-learning programs, generated 55 million Aadhaar cards and opened 26 million bank accounts, transforming millions of lives in the process.
The 11-member CSC Forum, an umbrella body for Service Centre Agencies (SCAs) is playing a pivotal role in taking forward the 'Digital India' movement. Members of the Forum specialise in financial services, IT, livelihood promotion, social welfare development, portal management, rural livelihood, education and the farm sector.
'Digital India' is a key initiative of the Government of India to transform the country into a digitally empowered society. Through this initiative the government plans to connect more than 700 million people living in semi-urban and rural geographies, make them digitally literate and encourage them to use modern technologies for their banking and several other daily needs.
Commenting on the role played by its members in transforming rural lives, Mr. Rajiv Aggarwal, one of the founding members of CSC Forum said: "With more than 90000, centers we have been able to bring the 'Digital India' dream closer to reality. This has been made possible due to our focus, commitment and innovation in the phase of extremely difficult circumstances. We have successfully managed multilingual delivery of end-to-end services by motivating Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs), built capacity, enhanced the scope of services and resolved field level challenges. The CSC Forum conducts regular dialogues with other agencies that have excelled at grass root operations to find solutions to various issues for the successful operation and profitability of CSCs."
Prominent members of the CSC Forum like Sahaj e-Village Limited (a Srei initiative), All India Society for Electronic and Computer Science (AISECT), CMS Computers Limited, and Network for Information and Computer Technology have over the years expanded their presence and built national networks reaching out to a much larger population. Almost all members offer a wide range of services – banking, micro insurance, travel, G2C, mobile recharge, product distribution, DTH, e-literacy and many more. The impact of these services has been wide spread.
