Awarded as the most environment friendly University jointly by the Franchise India Group, and process advisor Ernst & Young
Mumbai, April 14, 2016: Acknowledging NIIT University (NU) as the greenest campus in the country, NU has been conferred with the prestigious Clean, Green and Sustainability Education and Training Award 2016 at Clean & Green India awards 2016. NU has been recognized for innovative initiatives taken by the institution in intensely engaging with the local community through programs which help foster understanding about environmental issues at a grass roots level.
Established with a vision to bring about innovation in higher education and learning in emerging areas of the knowledge society, NU is a unique initiative where a campus is established on a comprehensive long-term master plan keeping environmental considerations at the centre.
Clean & Green India Awards 2016, organized by Franchise India aims to felicitate the contributors of the industry – Companies, Professionals, Individuals who have contributed in the Clean and Green sectors. The award was presented to NU after a comprehensive review of the work done by the University in this area by an independent Jury panel and Process Advisor - Ernst & Young, a global advisory and business consulting firm.
On receiving the award, Dr. Rajendra Pandey, President, NIIT University said, “We are pleased to receive the Clean, Green and Sustainability Education and Training award 2016. This is a reaffirmation of our continuing endeavour to put sustainable development as the core of our being. We have addressed the environmental concern of the adjoining 750-acre range of pristine hillocks, which form the foothills of the Aravali Range. We have also taken focused initiatives to involve the local populace for upkeep of the surrounding environment. Our students have enthusiastically participated in these initiatives. Together we hope to restore Aravali to its former glory.”
Against the backdrop Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Clean Green India 2016 was developed to gather the business and industry leaders from Asia to share innovations and business solutions, and explore collaboration opportunities with the local companies in India. These collaborations will enable the companies to offer more innovative and economical clean and waste management solutions to achieve the nation’s goal. The awards recognised the efforts and significant contributions of the organizations, individual including smart innovations, successful green businesses and cutting-edge technologies.

NU provides BTech programme (4 years) & the BTech - MTech Integrated dual degree programme (5 years) in Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Biotechnology. The University imparts knowledge in technologies of the future through a cutting-edge curriculum using the core principles of providing industry-linked, technology-based, research-driven and seamless education. The students from the University engage in internships at prestigious organizations. BTech students also get the opportunity of a 6-month work experience before they graduate.
