On the occasion of 4th World Toilet Day, Roca along with We Are Water foundation took the initiative through an interactive activity organized at DLF Place Saket, New Delhi to collectively curb the menace of open defecation in India. The activity involved inviting people to pledge their support by adding bricks around silhouettes of people squatting on the floor. The addition of bricks led to the creation of 4 walls around the silhouette and message of ‘Need of enclosed toilets and improving sanitation’ was revealed.

For each brick added Roca commits an investment of Rs. 1000/- for construction of toilets in the rural parts of India. Passing by visitors were first informed about the issue and then were asked to participate in the activity. About 450 people came forward to join the cause and pledge their support.

Elated at the occasion, Mr. Pau Abelló Pellicer, Managing Director, Roca Bathroom Products Pvt. Ltd. said “This initiative is an initial step towards highlighting the importance of toilets and providing better sanitation to the people. Open defecation today has emerged as a serious challenge for the country; the government has also taken cognizance of it and is implementing various measures to curb it. This World Toilet Day, Roca along with We are Water is taking the responsibility to make people aware of this issue and taking action to end the practice of open defecation in this country.”
