Huawei Wins 2016 “Best Consumer Electronics Brand”


 
December 6, 2013, New Delhi - Huawei Smartphones, the world’s 3rd largest smartphone manufacturer was announced the winners of ‘Best Consumer Electronics Brand’ during the “Best Brands 2016 – the Chinese brand ranking” by The Serviceplan Group, Europe´s largest independent communications agency, jointly with GfK, the world’s renowned market research organization, at an awards ceremony which took place in Shanghai.

Other winners this year include Airbnb-Best Disruptive Brand, WeChat-Best Digital Economy Brand, and BMW-Best Emotionally Bonding Brand.

Ugam Analysis of Exclusive Smartphones by Amazon India and Flipkart for the 2016 Festive Season

MUMBAI – October 18, 2016 – Smartphones is one of the most important product categories for online retailers in India. This festive season, major online retailers chose to compete on exclusive smartphones, as exclusive models account for almost 75 percent of total online smartphones sales in India [1]. But which exclusive smartphones do shoppers actually prefer and which retailers carry them? To find out, Ugam, a global leader in managed analytics, today released a study that analyses the online shopper intent signals of exclusive smartphones offered by Amazon India and Flipkart during the festive season. The study further analyses which retailers offer competitive prices for the smartphones that shoppers prefer.

The highlights of the study include the following:

1.       Amazon offered majority of the top 20 most-preferred exclusive smartphones. 
Based on online shopper intent data, Amazon offered 70 percent (14 out of 20) of the most-preferred exclusive smartphones. This includes smartphones such as the Moto G Plus, Lenovo Zuk Z1 and the OnePlus2.

2.       Not so exclusive – Half of the top exclusive smartphones by Flipkart were also available on Amazon. 
50 percent (three out of six) of the most-preferred exclusive smartphones by Flipkart were also available for purchase on Amazon. These included the Lenovo K3 Note, LeEco Le 2, and the Lenovo Vibe K5. Flipkart was priced lower than Amazon for two out of those three smartphones.

3.       Amazon was priced the lowest for more than half of the exclusive smartphones available on both websites. 
Of the 60 exclusive smartphones we analysed, 17 exact models were available for purchase on both Amazon India and Flipkart. Amazon was priced lowest for 53 percent (9 out of 17) of these exact smartphones.

4.       Amazon’s exclusives were priced lower than the models with similar specifications available on Flipkart. 

Out of 31 Amazon exclusives, Flipkart had 29 smartphones that were similar in specifications. Of these, 28 were available for purchase. We found that Amazon’s exclusives were priced lower for 57 percent (16 out of 28) of the models with similar specs available on Flipkart. 
Flipkart’s exclusives were priced lower than the models with similar specifications available on Amazon.

Out of 29 Flipkart exclusives, Amazon had 9 smartphones that were similar in specifications. We found that Flipkart’s exclusives were priced lower for 67 percent (6 out 9) of the models with similar specs available on Amazon.
“The Indian ecommerce war is more intense than ever.  Today, stellar growth is no longer enough; winning market share is key”, said Mihir Kittur co-founder and chief innovation officer at Ugam.  “Retailers should leverage online shopper intent signals, such as search, reviews, ratings and social media data to inform better selection and pricing decisions and, thereby, drive a competitive edge in this ultra-competitive landscape.”

Analysis methodology
This analysis demonstrates how retailers can assess their online assortment and pricing to improve their competitiveness during peak shopping seasons. 
To identify the trending products, Ugam first selected all the exclusive smartphone models available on Amazon and Flipkart as of September 28, 2016. We then used Ugam’s proprietary big data platform to collect and aggregate consumer demand data such as the search volume, social media signals, and online reviews and ratings, which calculates a popularity score for each product called Shopper Intent Score (SIS). 
The availability of similar products was identified by checking which smartphones on a competitor’s site has specifications similar to an exclusive smartphone. These specifications include the screen size, operating system, processor type, storage capacity, RAM and battery capacity. Ugam then tracked prices for matched products across Amazon and Flipkart to find out which retailers are priced the lowest as on October 6, 2016.

LeEco leads India into Ecosystem TV Era with the launch of its Super TVs

Following the US$ 2 billion acquisition of leading American TV maker VIZIO on July 26th, LeEco is now making another significant move to expand its globally successful TV business. The release of the Super3 Series marks the global technology giant’s dedication to further adopt the ecosystem model in India and provide Indian users with the best-in-class experience of internet ecosystem TV.

LeEco, which entered the Indian smartphone market earlier this year, is riding high after the massive success of its Superphones. It also recently launched its own e-commerce marketplace LeMall which has received encouraging responses from consumers. With the launch of Super TVs, LeEco has brought together key elements of its ecosystem model in India, including devices, content, applications and platform. 

Experience Big with Super3 Series 

LeEco's Super TVs are packed with numerous features that will bring big changes for consumers in India. "Having been designed with future user scenarios of video, app, and game in mind, our Super TVs are future-proof, and are truly leaders among the majority of similarly configured products," said Atul Jain, COO of Smart Electronics Business at LeEco India.

At the centre of these Super TVs is LeEco’ eUI5.5 user interface, which is at the heart of LeEco’s product development philosophy. The Ecosystem UI brings with it the option of customization that shows different apps depending on the frequency of use. The TVs are equipped with LeEco's self-developed and renowned content-viewing apps such as Levidi, LIVE, LeView along with other tailor-made apps like Panosearch. 

Making the user experience all the more comprehensible is LeEco's Super Remote Control 3.0 which is the handiest and smartest remote in the market. The four-direction navigation buttons help users easily access different applications and functions. Users can also use it as an air mouse or gamepad to control multiple devices connected to the Super TV. Furthermore, users can also grab their LeEco Superphones and point to the Super TVs to surf to whichever channel they want.

Perfectly complementing the Super TVs is the Yoga Stand that comes free of cost with them. The unique curvaceous stand contrasts well with the straight-line design of the TV set. It is distinctive, high-quality, and aesthetically pleasing, allowing the TV to be placed both firmly and beautifully.

LeEco Supertainment membership extends to bigger screens  

LeEco Super TVs will change the way users consume content on televisions. All three Super TVs will give access to one of the largest content libraries in India. Users can enjoy at least 2000 Full HD/HD films from Hollywood and Bollywood, more than 100 satellite TV channels, 3.5 million songs (coming soon by software upgrade), and more than 50 live concerts. 

With Super TVs, users will also get access to a cloud storage space of 5TB with strict privacy protection so users can store pictures capturing memorable moments on the cloud and share them conveniently with family and friends. 


Better-than-industry-standard warranty and after-sales services

After-sales service of TVs is another pain-point for users as most products generally have a rather short warranty period. Once the TV hits its warranty, repairing becomes a frequent and difficult task. While one year is the industry standard for a new television warranty, LeEco doubles the industry standard by providing Super3 Series a 2-year product warranty. LeEco understands that the most easily damaged and expensive TV component is the panel. Therefore, the LeEco Super3 Series' standard panel warranty will cover users for a full 4 years, while the industry standard for panel warranty is just 1-2 years. 

LeEco’s large after-sales service network in India with over 333 outlets at convenient locations is another advantage for users. Additionally, users will have access to a 24x7 call centre, offering services in nine languages.

Disruptive pricing and availability   

The Super TVs will surely disrupt the Indian TV market given its pricing. Super3 X55 - 139.7 cm (55) will be available for Rs 59,790, LeEco Super3 X65 - 163.9 cm (65) is priced at Rs 99,790 and Super3 Max65– 163.9 cm (65) will come at a price of Rs 149,790. All three Super TVs come with 2 years of VIP membership worth Rs 9,800.   

Super TVs will be available to users through LeMall and Flipkart. Pre-sales on both platforms will be held from 10th to 12th. Offers on the two platforms include Rs 5000 cash back with HDFC bank card, EMI option and more exciting ones.
