Marks Sri Lankan beauty brand’s entry into India

New Delhi, February 7, 2017: Dabur India Ltd’s pure-play beauty retail venture NewU today announced the launch of Sri Lanka’s Ayurvedic beauty brand Spice Island in India. This marks the Indian entry of Spice Island, which will be available exclusively at NewU outlets across the country, and will feature a range of premium Skin Care, Bath & Body Care and Hair Care products.
“Inspired by the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda, Spice Island is a holistic approach to personal skin and hair care. It’s is a renowned Sri Lankan brand that is helping people re-connect with Ayurvedic means of skin care and healing. The Spice Island range, which includes Shampoos, Body Butter, Day Cream, Night Cream, Shower Gels and Body Lotion, are priced between Rs 649 and Rs 1,399. The products are available in 14 SKUs. Going forward, the company plans to expand the Spice Island range to include a host of other beauty products like Face Wash etc. Spice Island is the second new international brand to be introduced in India by NewU in recent months. Prior to this, NewU had launched Jaquline USA in India with a range of Nail Care and Nail Styling products.

“The awareness levels among consumers in India for beauty products and beauty trends are on the rise. There’s also a growing awareness, particularly among the younger generation, about the benefits of the age-old science of Ayurveda. While seeking convenience in beauty care, they are also aware of the damaging effects of harsh chemicals, which has led to a spurt in demand for natural beauty and personal care products. The new Spice Island range is aimed at meeting this emerging consumer demand and aspiration for efficacious Ayurvedic beauty care products,” NewU Marketing Head Ms Vinni Pannu said.

The new brand Jaquline USA, exclusively available at NewU outlets across the country, will feature a range of make-up & beauty products, specially tailored for the modern Indian woman.

They are today bolder and more willing to experiment when it comes to colour and finishes. We will be meeting this need with the new Jaquline USA range of products,” Ms Pannu said.

The launch also marks the India entry of Jaquline USA, a brand owned by Fem Care Pharma in the US. “For the first time in India, Jaquline USA is bringing nail care solutions to the masses at competitive prices. The brand aims at bringing a colour revolution in people’s lives. Jaquline is a brand acquired by our parent company Dabur from Fem, USA. The products are formulated with technology from countries like France to meet global standards in beauty care,” she added.
