Buckle up as the deadliest season of Roadies Rising is all set to stun you this Saturday

Bangalore, February 24, 2017: Fire, deadly desire, iron will and a devil-may-care attitude – that’s what’s in store for you this Saturday as the most widely anticipated season of India’s longest running youth reality show – Roadies – returns for its deadliest season ever! MTV, the iconic youth brand returns with the fourteenth season of the cult reality show, Roadies Rising. Bigger, better and deadlier than ever, this season, aspiring roadies will be seen facing the adventure squad-veteran Roadie, Rannvijay Singha, Bollywood’s lethal combination of beauty with brains, Neha Dhupia, the winning gang leader from last season, Karan Kundrra, reality show king, Prince Narula in multi-city auditions that will be showcased this Saturday, February 25th at 7pm. Adding a layer of mystery and excitement ace Indian off-spinner, Harbhajan Singh will also be seen on the showing bringing some intriguing twists and turns for both – the contestants and the gang leaders!

Preparing for a journey down the reincarnation highway, contestants will be faced with the ultimate test of courage and bravery as they set out on an experience of a lifetime. Once chosen by their gang leaders, gang members will relive the fragments of history and valiant battles by foraying into battlegrounds that remind us of the struggle for freedom and martyrdom. The gangs will commence their journey, which begins in March, from Jhansi culminating at the ultimate battleground – Kurukshetra in the bid to find the ultimate warrior who will be crowned the new Roadie!

Commenting on his first time association with Roadies, ace cricketer Harbhajan Singh said, “Roadies has a huge fan following among the youth and that’s one of the reasons for me to be a part of the show. My role in the show will pretty much be the same as on the cricket ground - to throw googlies. Let’s see how the gang leaders and members face my googlies.”

Commenting on being a part of the fourteenth season of Roadies, Rannvijay Singha said, “Year on year this show keeps surprising me. It is extremely satisfying to see that even after so many years, far from losing its charm, we see more and more young people queueing up to become a Roadie. This new season is going to be the deadliest season ever. The tasks are going to be more difficult than ever and if the auditions are any indication, the contestants will be in for a lot of surprises this year around.”

On being a part of MTV Roadies, Neha Dhupia said, “I was sure this year would be a great show and we did get an amazing set of contestants from all the cities we went to. I hope that my presence on the show as the only female gang leader keeps motivating girls all over the country to come forward and live their dream of becoming a Roadie. It’s going to be a tough season, but that’s what being a Roadie is all about – to face whatever life throws at you and emerging victorious from it!”

Making a comeback on Roadies for his second stint as a gang leader, Prince Narula said, “For me, this these were extremely crucial auditions as I was auditioning Roadies hopefuls for the first time ever! I’ve been on the other side, so it was definitely exciting for me to be on this side of the room now. Being a contestant in the past, I know how tough it can be. All I have to say to the young people auditioning is, Roadies is all about showing your passion and putting your heart into the game!”

Reigning winner, Karan Kundrra said, “This is the third year of my association of being a gang leader on Roadies and I am extremely kicked about the new season. We met some extremely talented and able participants this year. I’ve found some of them special enough for my gang from!”

Karan Kundrra, who was responsible for picking members for his gang during the multi-city auditions will not be going on the Roadies journey this year. Instead, MTV VJ and yet another Roadies veteran Nikhil Chinapa will take on the mantle of guiding his gang once the journey commences in March.

On making a comeback on Roadies after seven long years, Nikhil Chinappa said, “Roadies is a cult show and it has only got better with time. I am coming back on the show after 7 years and I am excited about joining the team for the journey. The format has obviously changed from when I was on the show but it’s become more exciting, with several added layers to it. I haven’t chosen this gang, but it will be fun to guide them nevertheless. From what I’ve heard from my co-gang leaders, this season is going to be the deadliest ever. All I have to say is - start your engines and bring it on!”
Renault MTV Roadies Rising powered by Vivo Camera & Music, Woodland, Manforce Condoms connected by Hike is all set to kick off this Saturday on MTV at 7 pm with oodles of excitement and more horsepower than ever. Are you ready for the deadliest journey to begin?

April 30,  09.56 AM IST || Pocket News Alert

New Delhi, 29th April 2016: Youth is a life stage or a mindset – the debate continues across boardrooms. But, what everyone agrees is that it is extremely difficult to earn their attention and love. Change is the new order. Born with a technology gene, youngsters today are comfortable with the concept of change. Every year MTV undertakes a massive immersive research to capture the trending themes of this generation and highlight the emergent trends. This year, MTV is launching its biggest youth study ever that covers 11000 youngsters across 50+ cities across India. Aptly titled ‘MTV Many Me Project’, this in-depth research explores the many facets of youth life – their attitudes, motivations, aspirations and anxieties that was presented with much fanfare at the MTV Youth Marketing Forum 2016 – flagship insights event that studies and dissects the world of the youth.

MTV tags the generation as multi-achiever in the ‘Many Me Project’ – the new youth study

Explaining the theme of ‘The Many Me Project’ further, Ferzad Palia, Head – Youth and English Entertainment, Viacom18 said, “The Many Me Project is a look into the ever changing, ever dynamic youth of India. The headline of what has emerged is that today young people are fascinatingly multidimensional and multi-faceted. For them, being multitasking isn’t enough, they want to be multi-achievers. The world of the young is changing rapidly and the pace of this change is only doubling with time. At MTV, the universe of the young, we are passionate about tracking this change, because today, more than ever, the youth is incredibly dynamic. What’s more, they expect us, their brands, to be as dynamic, ever evolving and layered. It is a great pleasure for me to share these insights in order to help youth marketers build a strong connect with young people through cutting edge content.”

Speaking about the MTV Youth Marketing Forum 2016, Sudhanshu Vats, Group CEO, Viacom18, said, “As a content powerhouse, it is mandatory for us to understand the pulse of our audience. Hence, MTV’s constant endeavor to understand its primary target audience – the youth, what they are up to and how they feel about various aspects of life – is extremely crucial. For the last 10 years, MTV has been working incessantly to understand every nuance of each interaction young people have amongst themselves and their media consumption habits.  It is these patterns of consumption and interaction which then form the basis of everything we do at MTV. The headline study for this year – ‘MTV Many Me Project’ – has thrown up some fascinating insights into the lives and minds of this absolutely dynamic demographic. I am positive that every single person who has been a part of the MTV Youth Marketing Forum 2016 will now be able to decode the ever-changing youth of India much better!”

This year, the study also explores the role of content in life of youngsters and questions the existing paradigm that content is just a social currency. MTV also investigates on the emergent social etiquettes on the social media platforms, and the plurality of the online and offline lives of the youngsters. This research explores the manifestation of new-age gender definitions and therefore, its impact on the relationships between friends, families and significant others.

MTV Insights Studio, which is the insights arm of MTV, conducts the detailed exploration on what makes the youth tick. MTV had conversations with more than 11,000 youth across more than 50 cities across NCCS (new definition of SEC) A B & C in India to find out what exactly what makes them tick. Spanning an age group of 13-25 years, MTV used a mix of qualitative and quantitative methodology. This year, MTV deployed interesting non-intrusive yet immersive techniques like selfie-project, peerscope, digital shadowing along with ethnographic interviews, peer group discussions to understand the new emerging face of young India. As always, the insights gathered from this research were presented through interactive seminars and presentations every year at the MTV Youth Marketing Forum 2016, which also featured renowned trend speakers across the world such as:

Simple is boring and today’s young is anything but that. They’re unique and authentic. They’re mindful and ambitious. They’re raring to go, but they aren’t impatient. They know good things come to those who wait. And plan. And act accordingly. They’re dynamic, but not impulsive. They’re self- reflective, but not existential. They’re optimistic, but not impractical. They’re multifaceted, but not schizophrenic.  They are seamless across online and offline. The Many Me headline truly captures the multi-dimensionality of today’s generation.

With the World Wide Web and mobile devices, comes immense opportunity and exposure, and this helps them be whatever they want to be. They are able to hand-pick and curate the best version of themselves. In fact, at any point of time, they carry several best versions of themselves. This does not make them confused or chaotic; rather it makes them merely smart thinkers, who are driven, creative and resourceful. They cannot be contained in one dimension, leading the marketers to rethink their demography based target definitions. They live their life in plural. They are seamless. They are their beta versions. They are a sum of their ‘Many Me.’

Over years, MTV Insights Studio publications have become quite popular amongst the marketing fraternity. Through years, MTV have published insights studies like MTV Curios Minds, MTV Power of One, MTV Age of Sinnocence. Last year, MTV was also invited to present the insights publication as ESOMAR CONGRESS (Nice, France) and share the insights with the counterparts across 80 countries. This year, ThirdEye Qualitative and Juxt Smart Mandate have done the fieldwork for the project.
