A Kaleidoscope of breakthrough ideas - INK announces INK Conference 2016

The conference will bring together the brightest minds from across the globe to inspire innovation.

A Kaleidoscope of breakthrough ideas - INK announces INK Conference 2016

Chandigarh, July 27, 2016: The INK Conference has, over the years, carved a niche for itself and made its way on to the must-attend list in highly sought after calendars. This year is no different. This is a conference where there the audience are as powerful as the speakers and each of them is curated with utmost care. More than 500 influential thought leaders, artists and innovators from around the world will come together to share their stories, thought provoking ideas and life changing insights.

The theme at INK2016, is Kaleidoscope. It lends itself to the fusion of exponential conversations that will take place at the conference, to the multitude of cultures that will come together as well as the splendor Goa has to offer.
Surrounded by unexpected, striking combinations of aspiration across disciplines like creativity, health, science, invention, robotics, and energy, one has the opportunity to turn their imagination to impact.
Like the seemingly fragmented pieces of a Kaleidoscope that symmetrically come together to create a unique visual treat, this year’s conference unifies a multitude of thoughts and ideas, to create something beautiful - something unique.

The 7th edition of the conference will be held at the Grand Hyatt, Goa from 16th – 18th September. An incredible line-up of speakers will share insights on topics ranging from innovations in education to health to technology and the arts. Notable speakers at this year’s conference include entrepreneur and Chairman of the Bitcoin Foundation Brock Pierce; distinguished educator and producer of Mythbusters’ Adam Savage; venture philanthropist and former Chairman of Microsoft India Ravi Venkatesan, American paleontologist and geologist Kenneth Lacovara singer and songwriter Jill Sobule, and a host of other gifted individuals. The game changers attending the conference will also have an opportunity to network post-event amongst one another.

Commenting on this year’s theme, Lakshmi Pratury, Host and Curator of the INK Conference, said “INK shares a lot in common with the kaleidoscope. When unchecked imagination meets creative ability, the output is what causes future innovation.  I believe in the sheer magic that this diverse set of INK community creates year after year, writing our future together. It is always refreshing that just like the Kaleidoscope, every person who is part of the conference comes with a unique talent and leaves creating collective impact reshaping the world as we know it.”

For the fifth year running, INK will expand the INK experience to students and young professionals.  INK is partnering with Goa Institute of Management to gather over 500 young people to participate in a variety of workshops and interactive experiences while they watch a live stream of the INK Conference. Many of the esteemed attendees and speakers from the conference will join the youth in person to share their perspectives.

Kaleidoscope- A Spectacle of Forms & Elements

India 20 July 2016: For the love of art and creativity the owners of VeVa Art (Malavika Gaur) and Visual Impact (Sanchita Ghosh) have come together to present the unique combination of diverse art forms and offer viewers with an open window to understand the power of Indian contemporary art. The exhibition on “FORMS AND ELEMENTS” have already caught the eyes of many art lovers in metropolitan cities and was admired and acknowledged and is back in capital to present these masterpieces which is to be held at the Indian Habitat Center on 22nd, 23rd and 24th of July this year.

The exhibit will present works of around 30 eminent artists from all over India and about 80 artworks that would include paintings, sculptures and serigraphs. The price of art works is ranged at Rs 25,000/- till Rs 1,25,000/-.

“People often complain that contemporary artworks are expensive. So we decided to come up with this exhibition where ordinary people will be able to buy paintings by notable artists. Also this exhibition will offer viewers an opportunity to understand the power of Indian contemporary art” said – Malavika Gaur, of VeVa Art.

The duo has expertise in curating original art work by artists all over India and showcases them to the audiences who understand and value art. Variety of visual delights are kept keeping in mind the distinct taste of every art enthusiast. The affordable art on display are believed to be an ideal investment and can turn your personal space in to your favorite place.

Another attraction of the show will be the serigraphs. Serigraphy is a process through which printed design are produced by means of silk screen. The original prints are produced and hand printed by the artists.

The participating artists though share the same level of compassion towards art but their approach, thoughts and perception towards life vary a lot. One of the eminent participating artist Wasim Kapoor, is an artist possessed by the dark emotions of pain, suppression, suffering and loneliness. All his subjects, whether simple Indian women involved in daily tasks, Jesus Christ or even the ubiquitous Kolkata rickshaws, reflect angst and torment at the hands of a cruel society. Kapoor says that the poignant and melancholic images he paints are simply expressions of what he feels and sees every day. For him the dark images narrate the truth of our society. In contrast to that artist Aditya Basak have always played with his imagination power and gives a joy ride to a fantasy world. He has a fascination towards fantasies which can be seen in his art that let viewers escape from the real world. He strives to give form to the harsh realities of life and the strange thoughts that lurk in the corners of the subconscious, and both give his paintings a disturbing but hauntingly beautiful quality.

Renowned artist Jayashree Chakravarty on the other hand uses superimposed forms, quite like the sketches that cave painters worked on before they mapped them on the walls of caves. Her imagery, because of her fluid and transparent images, reflect the present mood of the world, which is fluid in itself. Her varied academic background has shaped her unique aesthetic style that often conceals as much as it reveals. Her work reflects the unity of man with nature and boldly experiments with an exciting variety of media like rice paper, tissue and cellophane to out in her thoughts. Artist Manish Pushkale works on oil canvas with minimum intervention of brush to give the canvas a thin color bath. His entire work process is worked out by the use of a piece of fabric acting as sponge to absorb extra pigment and give a smooth texture. A subdued color palette gives a calm character to his works. However, on a closer examination, the motifs and symbols in his art come to light, giving it different meanings. Subtle brush strokes and shading create multi-layered meaning which let the onlooker to apprehend it in any direction they wish to.

Other participating artists include Somenath Maity, Laxman Aely, Shekhar Roy, Shipra Bhattacharya, Shuchi Khanna, Suhas Roy, Shuvaprasanna & many more.
