VES college students celebrated 'National youth day' at Gateway of India


India 12 January 2017: Youth Power descended on the Gateway of India, Mumbai in full force as more than 200 Junior and Degree college students of Vivekanand Education Society (VES), Chembur gathered at Gateway of India to commemorate the 154th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand which is also celebrated as National Youth Day, at a function organized by Ramkrishna Mission, Mumbai. Shri Ajoy Mehta, Commissioner, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, graced the occasion as Chief Guest by garlanding the statue of Swami Vivekanand.

 “Throughout his life, Swamiji strove hard to bridge the gaps between different races and religions. He firmly believed that the youth of the country had tremendous potential which needed to be guided and channelized to achieving nationalistic goals. His teachings goaded the youth to follow a life of service towards the poor and the oppressed, an unbiased outlook towards fellow beings and emphasis on honesty and purity of thought and soul. We are committed to setting an example in our personal and professional lives by following his teachings, “stated Shri. Dinesh Tahiliani, Secretary of VES.

Inspirational speeches of students from different schools eulogizing the life philosophy and noble deeds of Swami Vivekanand formed the core theme of the function. The occasion was also made lively by the BMC band playing patriotic songs lending a nationalistic fervor to the occasion.
