Yes. You read it correctly. IIT – JEE and CA – CPT are two totally unrelated studies. One is completely science and other is commerce. But one student has shifted entirely from IIT to CA and he also cleared his first level of CA with a bang.
Kavin Prasanna, an IIT aspirer from Chennai could not get through the IIT exams even after 2 years of thorough preparation. When things don’t work for IIT, many students give up their dream and go for regular engineering colleges and get any engineering degree. But Kavin did something unusual. He was determined that he wanted to do something extraordinary than the ordinary crowd. He chose CA. Something totally unrelated to his current curriculum. Very bold and unexpected decision indeed.
His sister who is also pursuing CA and a student from science background cautioned him to get his basics right before entering CA. They started to look for basic accounts class for non-commerce students. That time, they saw a Facebook advertisement of Virtus Academy, which was conducting basic accounts class for non-commerce students. However, these classes were scheduled only at Coimbatore. Kavin’s father supported him and he went to Coimbatore to attend basic accounts classes with Virtus Academy after staying in hostel.
After completion of his basic accounts classes, Kavin returned to Chennai to take up his CPT coaching with Virtus Academy, Chennai. However, his heart was still in Coimbatore. So he went back to Coimbatore to continue his CPT classes with Virtus Academy in Aug 2016. He attended the classes and wrote his CPT exam in Dec 16. Fast forwarding to 17 Jan 17, today CPT results are out. Everyone knows that CA is very famous for continuous failing and less pass percentage. Even Commerce background students find it difficult to clear. But today, Kavin has cleared CA – CPT by scoring 175 out of 200. Yes. He has got 87.5 percentage and secured a distinction in CPT exams.
Kavin is a real inspiration for many CA students from both commerce and science background. He clearly demonstrated that hard work and dedication can get you desired results even if you are from totally unrelated background. To know more about Kavin’s success strategy, we reached to his mentor and his accounts faculty, CA. Karthikeyan, Virtus Academy. “Kavin is a dedicated person. His dedication in following our tips and understanding various accounting concepts we explain in classes, has shocked me to think whether he is science student or commerce student. He seriousness in CA can be seen when he moved to Coimbatore to take up his coaching rather than staying in Chennai. His preparation from IIT-JEE has helped him in Quantitative Aptitude and for his preparation methodology also. In our academy itself, we have seen many science students are performing extremely well in CPT exams compared to commerce students.”
We also spoke to CA. Santhoshni, Virtus Academy to know more about Kavin. “Kavin is the brightest boy of the lot. I know from the day one he will clear CPT with ease. But to be frank, never expected the 175. Kavin just rocked in his exams. Kavin has just crossed one level. He needs more preparation and hardwork for his next IPCC exams. I wish him All the very best and I am very sure, he will secure a Rank in IPCC exams”.
Kavin is the living example of saying, “Hardwork never goes unrewarded”.
We wish many more students takes inspiration from Kavin to do and clear CA.
