India's First Academic Specialization For The Real Estate Sector
Mumbai, 26 July 2016: JLL, India's largest and leading property consulting firm, today announced a strategic partnership with leading private university NMIMS to offer a new field of specialization in 'Real Estate Consulting & Transaction Services' to Technology Management students. Delivered through MPSTME, the Technology Management School of NMIMS, the courses in this specialization will be co-designed and integrated into the 5-year MBA (Tech.) program.
Anuj Puri, Chairman & Country Head of JLL India said, "As industry leaders, it has been JLL's constant endeavor to identify path-breaking solutions to the real estate sector's evolving demands. It is essential for candidates who intend to work in this sector to possess industry-specific skill sets, which this innovative and highly customized specialization will provide. We are also extending scholarships and placement assistance to meritorious students emerging successfully from this program".
With about 7.8% contribution to India's GDP, the real estate sector plays a vital role in driving the Indian economy. It is also the second-largest employment generator in the country, and its increasing prominence is boosting more job opportunities than ever before. India has also moved up the rankings in the recent JLL Global Real Estate Transparency Index. This sector will demonstrate significant growth over the next few decades, driven by various government initiatives such as the Real Estate Regulatory Act (RERA), setting up of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs).

This Corporate-Academic initiative is also in line with the incumbent Government's focus on the Skill India Program. This program aims to provide ample opportunities for appropriate training to take advantage of the demographic dividend and plug the gap of high-quality, formal institutional academic program and pedagogy for the Indian Realty sector. Most of these skills have been historically acquired through 'on-the-job' learning.
For the first time in India, such a unique specialization is being offered to students to make them market-ready. With NMIMS's academic strength and JLL's industry expertise, this management course is poised to become the barometer of academic rigor and certification for Indian Realty.
