India 19 July 2016: Nakshatra was introduced to the enthralling world of Bharatanatyam at a tender age of 7 under the blessings and watchful eyes of Guru Smt. Nagamani Srinivasa Rao and has not turned back ever since. Nakshatra has been a connoisseur of other forms of Art as well and she takes on Painting in its various forms. Aside to that, she is an ardent student of Music as well, which compliments her Dancing skills. Nakshatra is a Grade 9 student at BGS National Public School, Hulimavu, Bangalore. Her Academic Director, Principal and Teachers have acknowledged this talent and nurtured it by giving her opportunities and exposure in varied cultural programs and contests at School.
The Rangapravesha-Bharathanatyam Arangetram of Nakshatra will be held on Saturday 6th August 2016 at 5:45 PM. A disciple of Guru Smt. Nagamani Srinivasa Rao and a fervent student of Bharathadarshana School of Classical Dance & Music, Nakshatra is a Grade-9 student of BGS National Public School. Guru Smt. Nagamani Srinivasa Rao has had the honour of being tutored by her distinguished brothers, the legendary Bharathanatyam Guru, Padmashri Adyar K. Lakshman and Sri K. Rama Rao, at a tender age of seven. She has graduated in Music from University of Madras and has been teaching dance for 30 years.
She founded Bharathadarshana in 1988 in Chennai and the institute currently operates in Bangalore and Houston, USA, which is managed by her daughter-in-law, Smt. Soujanya Madhusudhan, Associate Director of the institution and a graded artiste with Bangalore Doordarshan. Students of Bharathadarshana have extensively performed in many prominent sabhas and also have competed in many competitions and have won many prizes and awards. Apart from being a skilled and innovative choreographer, she is one of the foremost vocalists and Nattuvanars. She is the recipient of the title, “Nrithya Kalaivani” from the Natyanjali Trust.
