Mumbai, June 08, 2016: R City Mall, Ghatkopar, Mumbai’s largest shopping mall will launch ‘No Plastic’ week from June 5th to commemorate World Environment Day. Mall officials will distribute cloth bags to every shopper who produces a bill at the mall everyday from June 5th to June 12th.



R City Ghatkopar has organized the ‘No Plastic’ week to curb the use of plastic bags that harm the environment and to encourage people to do their bit for a greener world. According to the 2014 Environment Status Report by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Mumbai reportedly adds nearly 700 MT of plastic to its garbage dumped in landfills across the city every day.
Speaking about the ‘No Plastic’ week, Amaan Fakih, CEO, R City, said, “Caring for the environment around us should not be the work of a few but of all. Reducing pollution is our aim with ‘No Plastic’ week. We are excited to do our bit and offer people to use and carry home cloth bags from R City. People who forget to bring bags while shopping will now be able to avail of free bags during this week from the mall, by just showing their shopping receipt from the retailer who doesn’t have the option. We are looking forward to seeing as many shoppers as possible taking home our cloth bags, so that they can do their bit to reduce plastic bag consumption.”
