The Sharjah Tatweer Forum (STF) and leading multinational software corporation, SAP, won the ‘Best Public / Private Partnership Project’ category of the 2nd edition of the .GOV Awards for Dubai and the Northern Emirates 2016 an annual event that seeks to honor organisations and IT professionals that are leading the digital transformation of government in the UAE, which was held earlier in Dubai. The award was given in recognition of the successful partnership between STF and SAP for their collaborative efforts on the 'Sharjah as a Smart City' initiative, which aims to bolster the emirate's sustainable growth through business innovation, economic growth and youth development.
Commenting on the award, Jassem Mohammed Al Beloushi, Chairman, STF said: “We are truly honored to be selected as this year’s ‘Best Public / Private Partnership Project’ at the annual .GOV Awards for Dubai and the Northern Emirates 2016. This recognition demonstrates the strong partnership that we have maintained with SAP and our mutual commitment to drive in sustainable growth for Sharjah while also supporting its efforts to become a premier Smart City. This is a first time win for us, which inspires us further to continue with our commitment to empower today’s youth and train them to be catalysts of the future.”
The .GOV Awards was established in 2015 to recognise the achievements of the public sector in the field of ICT in the UAE and to honor outstanding efforts by the public sector in the GCC to use the power of technology to deliver innovative and engaging government services.
“Winning this award demonstrates the power of the public sector vision combining with the private sector technology experience to support youth development and the entrepreneur-led economy in Sharjah and the UAE. SAP is committed to supporting the next generation of Millennials in the UAE with Design Thinking, enabling them to gain Digital Economy skills, exchange knowledge with leading technologists, and experience on-site innovations at global technology hubs such as Silicon Valley,” said Tayfun Topkoc, Managing Director, SAP UAE.
