Mr. Gopichand Hinduja honored with ‘High Sheriffs Awards’ in London

Mumbai, April 27, 2016: Mr. Gopichand P Hinduja, Co-Chairman, Hinduja Group of Companies and Chairman, Hinduja Automotive Limited, UK was recently honored with the ‘High Sheriffs Award’ by The High Sherriff of Greater London, Lady Ghazala Hameed. The award is bestowed in recognition of the services rendered by Mr. Gopichand P Hinduja towards the community and the appreciation of the residents and people of the said High Sheriff’s County for activity and contribution in enhancing the life of the community. Mr. Gopichand P Hinduja has made important contributions towards ISCKON temple, Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan and Millenium Dome among others in the past.

The office of High Sheriff, as the monarch's representative in a county, is over 1000 years old. The High Sheriff of Greater London makes awards twice a year to citizens who have given outstanding service in helping the police carry out their duties. The High Sheriff of Greater London is interested in justice in a wide sense: police, courts, prisons and the voluntary sector in its support for victims and offenders. The High Sheriffs Award recognises those who have done exceptional work; to bring people together; and to facilitate things which need to be done. It is directed by the courts under section 28 of the Criminal Law Act 1826 and made by the High Sheriff. Greater London comprises all 32 boroughs but not the City of London.
