Ashok Leyland Donates a 46 seater Stag Bus to BALM

Assists students with greater mobility

Chennai, 21st April, 2016: Ashok Leyland, flagship of the Hinduja Group, and the second largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in India, donated a bus to The Banyan Academy of Leadership in Mental health (BALM), to enable efficient movement between locations, and strengthen student immersion programme.

The 46-seater Stag bus will help transport students to campus, for fieldwork, and visits to other institutions. Mrs Madhuri Menon, Dean, BALM, said, “Mental health is largely ignored in India due to the social stigma associated with it. BALM is grateful to Ashok Leyland for supporting our work.”
Handing over the keys to the team from BALM, Mr.T. Venkataraman, Senior Vice-President, Global Buses, Ashok Leyland said, “Ashok Leyland has always been involved with community projects and we are pleased to offer our expertise in mobility solutions to BALM. Stag is an efficient, reliable, and proven platform that will benefit students of BALM.”

An active partner in community engagement, Ashok Leyland has donated buses to various schools, mostly catering to children from economically challenged backgrounds, many of whom are specially abled.
