It’s Game On at the 6th Edition of St. Martha’s Premier League (SMPL 2016)

Bangalore,6th February, 2016: An annual event, eagerly awaited at the renowned St Martha’s Hospital is that of the St. Martha’s Premier League (SMPL). Currently in its 6th edition, the event will take place on 7th of February at the YMCA Grounds. The excitement begins at 9.30am and will have 6 teams in attendance.



The teams have come together based on specialties and departments in the hospital. The participating teams along with their owners are:



Surgical - Dr. Arun & Dr. Satyakrishna (HOD Surgery & Unit Chief of Surgical Department)

Medical - Dr. Ravindranath (Medical Superintendent)

Maintenance - Sr. Naomi (Nursing Superintendent)

St. Martha's Heart Centre - Shailesh (Director, St. Martha's Heart Centre)

Admin - Dr. Shashikanth (Senior Medical Officer)

Nursing Assistants Team - Sr. Prameela (Sr. Superior)



Ownership of the team was granted based on bidding. Each team owner secured his or her team for a price of Rs 5000. The total prize money is Rs 15,000 which will be split equally between the team owner and its members. The runners-up will receive Rs 10,000. All winners will be handed a trophy to celebrate their victory. Medals will also be distributed to both victors and runners-up.



The game of cricket promises to be an intense one with umpires in attendance from YMCA.



Speaking on the SMPL 2016, Mr. Jayakar Jerome, the Director of St Martha’s Hospital says, “Life in a hospital is hectic and is all about team effort to help nurse the sick back to good health. We believe that friendly matches such as this, provides a great outlet to the stress that often tends to build up. It fosters good relations outside of the work space, thus helping our staff interact better with one another when working together. It is a yearly event that we all look forward to”.
