MoneyGram , a global provider of innovative money transfer services, and Agastya International Foundation today held an event in Mumbai to applaud the progress the three mobile science labs funded by the MoneyGram Foundation continue to achieve in rural India. In the second year of funding, the MoneyGram Foundation has provided almost US $140,000 in grant funds to the Agastya International Foundation – allowing the organization to expose more than 40,000 students to hands-on science models.

“The extraordinary momentum Agastya has achieved with the mobile science lab project is inspiring,” said Kaushik Roy, MoneyGram International’s Senior Regional Director – South Asia. “The path-breaking roads these innovative vehicles are paving are offering some of the most remote and under-resourced populations the transformative power of science education.  MoneyGram is proud to align our efforts with educational pioneers such as the Agastya Foundation on worthy projects that are helping our foundation reach MoneyGram’s customers where they live and work.”

Agastya International Foundation’s mission of “a creative India” is achieved by sparking creativity among millions of disadvantaged children and their teachers. The Mobile Science Labs aid in making learning fun and awakening intellectual curiosity. Each lab funded by the MoneyGram Foundation travels to 30 schools in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Bihar, teaching children through hands-on science models in physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics.
