“We believe that the true potential and intent of Samajwadi Awaz Yojna can only now be achieved in the real sense, since the planned construction of nearly 3 lakh units by the end of 2016 was nearly impossible under the earlier norms. The relaxed norms of reducing the minimum area required for a project to be launched from 5 acres to 2.5 acres, along with the reduced width of a project's approach road from 18 metres to 12 metres, will go a long way in encouraging small developers and land owners in the state, and especially the area of Western UP neighboring Delhi. Keeping in mind that scheme has been targeted to empower the lower and middle income group in the state; the move to fix the minimum carpet area to 40 sqm while the maximum remains at 70 sqm also gives a lot of clarity and flexibility to developers catering to segment.”
