Life was not this funny for Das always. It was ambition much ahead of its time, when he decided to pursue his passion to become a stand-up comedian, possibly much before the country had heard of local stand-up artists.
Vir Das went to US to pursue studies in Economics but his passion for theatre led him to study theatre instead. A stint across TV channels was followed by launching himself as a stand-up comedian. His dream is ''to be an arena comedian and sell 1000 to 4000 seaters''. Now as an established comedian in the Indian stand-up comedy circuit, Vir Das is now making his presence felt in the film industry too. His versatility across comedy and entertainment marks his effortless transition to acting. Marking his Bollywood debut with a guest appearance in Namastey London (2007), he followed it up with Love AajKal (2009), Delhi Belly (2011), Go Goa Gone (2013), Amit Sahni Ki List (2014) and Mastizaade (2016) among others. He was last seen in the film Santa Banta Pvt Ltd, which released in April, 2016.
