Delhi NCR, 27th September 2016: The DLF Invitational Caddy Golf Tournament is a firmly established event and an overwhelming response was received for the 12th edition, held on the 27th September 2016 at the DLF Golf & Country Club, Gurgaon. Caddies from across the country participated in this 12th edition of the tournament.

In 2002 what started as a local tournament for the caddies of Delhi and the NCR Golf Clubs has panned out to encompass clubs from around the country. With the overwhelming response generated from the success of the previous years, the Caddy Golf Tournament is now an annual feature and an integral part of the DLF Golf & Country Club’s Golfing Calendar.
The tournament saw Pramod Kumar (DGC) emerge as the winner in the individual category while the DLF Golf and Country Club team emerged as the winners in the team championship category. Additionally, Sohan Pal (AMB – GNN) won in the “Closest to Pin” category; Arjun Kumar (ATS – Mohali) won in the “Longest Drive” category, Jabbar (GG) won in the “Straightest Drive” category; Shivam Gupta (LGC) won in the “Best Score AP Nine” category and Aqrun (AGC- Ambala) won in the “Best Score GP Nine” category.
Golf has always been surrounded with an aura in itself which is coveted by many, thus increasing the desire for people to play the game. In all these years, the game has tripled in magnitude with close to 300 courses in India and many more in the pipeline in several parts of the country. In fact experts believe that golf in India is ready for a heady take-off with some estimates projecting that it has already cranked itself into a $2 million sporting industry in the country.
However, with the rise in the popularity of golf, the emphasis and limelight has primarily been focused on players, officials and the corporate fraternity who can indulge in the luxury of this ‘elite’ game. In the process, the ‘caddy’ who is an integral part of this game has remained on the periphery, totally unnoticed. Through this tournament, DLF endeavors to inspire caddy golfers so that they can aim to elevate their game to the next level.
