India 19 August 2016: Snehankit Helpline established in the year 2001 with an objective  to provide a variety  of services to assist to empower the visually challenged to educate themselves better and to lead more fulfilling lives by providing them with the necessary assistance. On 21st of August 2016 Snehankit will celebrate its 15th Foundation day and will be launching three unique projects for enhancing the educational prospects of the visually challenged at Smt. Kamala Mehta School for the Blind in Dadar from 4 pm onwards

The highlight of the Foundation Day are as follows

·               Mini Braille Production Unit – Setting up of a Mini-Braille press for the benefit of individual school and college going students who can get their text books, digests, notes, question-answers etc. transcribed in Braille. Presently no one is catering to such individual requirements. Rotary Club of Bombay has donated 6 lakhs for this project. The project is sponsored by Videojet technologies through Rotary Club of Thane with a donation of 7.5 lakhs.

·               Braille & Graphic Designing Project – Braille Production of 10 titles predominantly pertaining to tactile graphics such as knowledge of print alphabets and numerals, maps, basic geometry, science diagrams etc. These will be distributed free to 400 institutions in India. 

·               Personality Development Project – Snehankit Helpline, in collaboration with Chandu Memorial Trust, is shortly initiating a Personality Development Project for the benefit of School and College going Visually Impaired students at 2 locations in Mumbai. This Project will cater to 25 Visually Impaired boys and girls, studying from Std. VI-XII, to be selected on first come first serve basis, from the city of Mumbai and it’s adjoining areas. The duration of the Project is 1 year. During this period, the following activities will be organized, aimed at Personality Development of the aforesaid students.

a)             4-hour sessions during weekends, (Saturdays or Sundays) at 2 locations in Mumbai, i.e, Andheri and Mulund, imparting Training in English Communication and Basic Computer Skills. The students can choose any one of the locations, close to their residence.

b)            Residential Camps of 1 and 2 weeks’ duration, during Diwali and summer vacations, respectively. Activities at these Camps will include Yoga, Shramadan, Games and Sports, Performing Arts, Personal hygiene and grooming, Self-help skills, Family life Education, Carrier guidance, and Sessions on Motivation, Goal setting, Self-confidence, Sexual and Drug abuse, etc.


Snehankit Helpline, is a registered trust under the Bombay Charitable Trust Act (1950). Though Snehankit Helpline commenced its activities in Mumbai, over a period of time if has been receiving a number of request for audio books, from individual students from other parts of Maharashtra and even from other states like Rajasthan.
