DFPCL announces its plan to expand Nitric Acid capacities


To set up a green field project in Dahej, Gujarat with an investment of Rs. 550 crores 

Chandigarh, August 05, 2016: Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation Limited (DFPCL) a leading manufacturer of fertilizers and chemicals, today announced its plan to enhance its Nitric Acid capacities. Since the past three decades, DFPCL is among the leading manufacturers and suppliers of Nitric Acid in India.

Currently the Company has a manufacturing facility in Taloja, Maharashtra and manufactures three variants of Nitric Acid which include Dilute Nitric Acid, Concentrated Nitric Acid and Strong Nitric Acid. The current capacity is close to 840,000 MTPA, but most of which is used for captive consumption with only ~ 160,000 MTPA available for merchant sale. With the increased capacity, the Company will be able to provide an incremental ~148,000 MTPA.


“We cater to Nitro-aromatics, Dyes, Defense, Agrochemicals and Pharma sectors which are growing rapidly. Some of our key customers have already announced their expansion plans and thus we are expecting a rise in demand for Nitric Acid. We are aligning our expansion plans with those of our customers, so as to cater to their demands”, mentioned Mr. Paresh Trivedi, President Chemicals Business.

Most of the company’s manufacturing facilities, which include chemicals, TAN and fertilizers, are based in Taloja, Maharashtra and this would be their first foray into the state of Gujarat. “There have been significant developments in the recent past which have contributed to the growth of Nitric Acid demand in the Gujarat Region. A manufacturing facility in Dahej will bring us closer to our key customers.” added Mr. Trivedi.

Land for this project has already been acquired and the Company plans to deploy a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with an investment of Rs.550 crores. The project is scheduled to be completed by H2 of 2018.
