Event held to discuss Skin Protection from Pollution and Harsh Environment

India 23rd December’2016:

‘Beauty indeed is skin deep,’ or so was proved when a host of politicians, dancers, singers and entrepreneurs (both men and women) turned up at Centre for Hair and Skin Clinic on 21st December to share steps to protect their skin from growing pollution in the city.

According to a report by SAFAR (System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research), the pollution levels recorded in Delhi a day after Diwali were much higher than ever before. The Particulate Matter (hazardous particles in the air) PM 10 were 836.1µg/m³(over eight times the safe limit) and 624.2µg/m³ (nearly 10 times the safe limit).

In view of the growing pollution in the Capital, leading dermatologist Dr. Deepali Bhardwaj held an evening to enlighten the common man and woman about the ways to protect one’s skin from allergies, especially in case of the rapid environment changes happening around us.

“Skin is the most sensitive tissue as it is directly exposed to the changes in our environment- be it rough weather, pollution, or stress. The PM particles in the environment directly affect the skin, and can cause skin allergies like Urticaria, Dermographism, Wheals, Rashes, and even Skin Asthma. Hence it is very important to take care of our skin and take proper precautions even if one has naturally good skin in order to maintain it,” said Dr. Bhardwaj.

Endorsing her belief that the government and citizens need to work together in order to combat the menace of pollution and protect our skin, the highlight of the evening was the Guest of Honour, MP Shri Manoj Tiwari and RSS Member Shri Indresh Kumar candidly interacting with the guests, even singing a song, and sharing some tips to make this city a better place to live in.

 Power of Positivity

“It is important to care not just for ourselves but also the environment we live in, so that we can look and feel better. I believe that the people of Delhi are very caring, and this is an appeal to all Delhi-ites to start taking small steps to care for their environment and neighbourhood,” said Shri Manoj Tiwari. He also emphasized the importance of being close to nature and taking simple steps like having a couple of plants in our balcony to increase the fresh air, and going for a walk in the park every day. And try to use the metro instead of driving to work.

“It is as important to be beautiful within, as without. Therefore it is important to think positive, as our thoughts reflect directly on our skin. If you think negative thoughts of anger or jealousy, you cannot have beautiful skin,” said Shri Indresh Kumar.

Mrs Mallika Nadda (wife of Union Health Minister JP Nadda) said that she wishes every Indian woman with loads of good health and good skin. “Indian Women are born with beautiful skin. Our beauty is celebrated the world over. But, with the harsh realities of life, tough lifestyle, stress and growing responsibilities, women often neglect themselves. I hope Dr. Deepali is able to guide every woman in India to take care of herself and look her best, always!”

Also seen discussing tips for skin care at the event were make-up artist Vidya Tikari, politician Shahid Siddiqi, Kathak dancers Nalini and Kamalini, singer Shankar Sahney and entrepreneur Vicky Khurana with wife Pam Khurana.
