December 26, 2016, Mumbai: Sports such as Ice Skating and Malkhamb are seeing growing interests from school children, with the 8th annual sports day at Airoli campus of EuroSchool witnessing enthralling performance by kids as early as those from Pre-Primary.

Under the expert guidance and training of professional coaches, EuroSchool students across Pre-Primary (KG), Primary (Grade 1-4) and Secondary grades (5-10) put up captivating performance of Ice Skating and Malkhamb. An artificial surface akin to ice skating was placed right at the centre of the school playground for students to display their latest feats in the new sport.

EuroSchool Airoli Principal Sudeshna Chatterjee said, “EuroSchool is known for its belief in ‘Balanced Schooling’, which is a mix of academic, co-curricular and sports training for the holistic development of a healthy mind and body. Sports are known to aid the learning process, instill confidence, increase alertness and agility among children. With the best-in-class sports infrastructure and training we ensure that our students develop expertise in the areas of their interests and hone their talent to match international standards. EuroSchool has provisioned for professional set up and guidance to train students across all grades in new sports like Ice Skating and Malkhamb.”

The two events were in addition to the fascinating display of sporting expertise in traditional games such as football, athletics, basketball, handball, Taekwondo, tennis, cricket and chess amongst others.

As a part of the measures taken to promote sports, the Airoli campus has provisioned for a sprawling playground, two turfed multi-sports courts, a skating rink and professional set up for advanced gymnastics, Malkhamb, aerial gymnastics and Yoga.

EuroSchool Airoli’s sporting facilities are used for various sports by the DSO (District Sports Organisation), the Thane District Roller Skating Association and the Skating Association of Navi Mumbai.

Spread over a three acre campus, EuroSchool Airoli is conducting a three day Annual Sports Day from December 21-23, with participation of more than 2,000 students.
