Specifically tailored for teachers seeking to advance their careers and gain global exposure, ITARI will offer Postgraduate level, Professional IB Teacher certification programmes in International Education, exclusively customized to meet the requirements of International Baccalaureate Schools.  The strategic tie-up with University of Bath, U. K will offer Masters in Education (M.A.) with the IB Educators Certificate (IBEC).

Speaking on the occasion, Lt. General (Retired) Arjun Ray, PVSM, VSM, and Chief Executive- Indus Trust said “India is creating a niche for itself as the most sought after destination for expats to work. One of the many advantages of this is seen in the education sector with spiraling growth in the number of international schools. In 2003 there were a mere 11 IB schools in India. In 2016 there are 132 IB world schools which offer one or more of four IB programs. This tremendous growth has led to a huge demand for teaching professionals who are qualified to teach the IB curriculum. ”

“Between February 2011 & February 2016 the number of IB programs offered worldwide grew by 46.40%. As on 25th July 2016, there are 4,527 schools which offer IB programs globally. Additionally ISC Research, part of the International School Consultancy, has also found that the number of students taught at international schools worldwide now totals 4.26 million. As a result of this rapid growth, ISC predicts that in ten years, there will be at least 15,000 English-medium international schools with over eight million students enrolled. This establishes the fact that there are tremendous international opportunities available and the dual certification post graduate programme of M.A. + IBEC is one such bridge for  teachers to realize their growing ambitions   ” he added.

The IB Educator Certificate is a formal certification offered by the International Baccalaureate Organization which can be studied in conjunction with the MA Education programme. The classes and programme will commence in March 2017 at the ITARI campus.

The M.A. programme facilitates development of research, analysis and critical thinking skills. It aims at enhancing an educator’s professional practice through greater theoretical understanding of current educational issues. IBEC certificate course offers a rich learning experience;  participants delve deeper into curriculum development, pedagogy & assessment through exploring relevant literature & their own IB practices.

Speaking on the occasion Prof Jeff Thompson, CBE, University of Bath, UK and one of the Founding members of International Baccalaureate Organization said, “We are delighted to partner with a reputed teacher training organization like ITARI. Such collaborations enable educators to develop their skill and expertise and also serve as a platform for teachers looking at bigger opportunities worldwide. We look forward to an enriching experience and to more such alliances in future.”
