India Gadgetz Expo (IGE) 2016 delivers a successful consumer tech show at India’s Silicon Valley


Showcases futuristic consumer technology products and innovations by leading tech brands and hardware startups  

 Bengaluru, October 16, 2016: India Gadgetz Expo (IGE) continued its growth as one of the largest consumer tech platforms in India over its first two days. This being the 3rd edition of the largely popular and successful IGE, it brought together a wide plethora of established tech industry players, plenty of innovative startups and an eager audience that was thrilled to learn about the latest trends and events from the consumer tech world. Based on the theme “Future is Here”, IGE 2016 was held at the KTPO Exhibition Center, Whitefield, at India’s very own Silicon Valley, Bengaluru.

Key highlights of the event included an eclectic mix of panelists and thought leaders who participated in 10 engaging and insightful sessions revolving around the tech world. Intex, a leading manufacturer from India, also launched 2 new smartphones at IGE 2016. Moreover, a 36-hour hackathon was also organized by HackMania which received more than 200 participants.   

Some of the leading brands that participated at IGE 2016 were Gionee, Apple, Intex, Oppo, Motorola, MediaTek, Creative, Timex, BSNL, JIO, Epson, and many more. While 200 brands were involved with the event on a whole, there were also around 100 exhibition stalls that were present there. Wearable technology, sustainable tech solutions and Augmented Reality were the prominent themes that these companies were focused on.    

A majority of the hardware startup stalls came from the fields of vehicle tech manufacturers and IoT solution providers. These stalls highlighted how home automation is becoming very popular amongst startups and green technology and greater efficiency for vehicles is the driving force behind innovative consumer tech today. Robotics solutions were also immensely popular and amongst the total of 60 hardware startup stalls. Some of the most innovative stalls were Volta Cycles, Greendzine Technology, Bitmotion, Sirena Robots, VDrone, Thinqbot, Kooki, Kisan Raja, and Pinut, amongst many more. 

On both days of IGE 2016, there were a total of 10 panel discussions that discussed a wide range of topics delving into the tech domain such as Women Leaders in Technology, Vehicle Technology, Foreign Startups and Futuristic Technologies. Each of these panels were delivered by leading industry thought leaders from their respective industries who shared several anecdotes and data points that kept their audience engaged. The ‘Women Leaders in Tech’ session saw a huge turnout from the audience and included notable panelists such as Poonam Jethwani, Jaya Jagdish, Tina Vinod and Kalpana B. Other panelists for all the sessions came from notable companies and startups such as KPMG, AMD, Thought Works, Myntra, Simplilearn, TeamIndus, Smartron, ZAPR and Autodesk. One of the panels on Startups was also attended by Bala Girisaballa, the CEO of the resident Microsoft Accelerator in India.  

Additionally, there were also two more standalone sessions by Dr. Paul Jeong, Founder and CEO, TheVentures India, on ‘Future is Here’ and by Pascal Bollon, Managing Director of GfK South Asia on Data Analytics.

Lastly, the 36-hour hackathon managed by HackMania also saw participation by around 200 people around the theme ‘Social Innovation’. By using a combination of hardware and software solutions for their innovations, and with the help of 15-20 mentors, the participants displayed India’s growing prowess as a coding giant. 

IGE 2016 also has in store the  Inspiring Indian Innovation (I3) awards to recognize and honor excellence in the technology industry. These awards will look to highlight the Indian innovators who have made a mark in their respective domains, based on their creativity, design, product or impact.


Over the course of these two eventful days, IGE has strengthened its growing popularity as the consumer tech expo for the masses where innovative startups and established players can come together to define and recognize the best trends from the consumer tech market.
