Addresses the increasing demands facing enterprises to create value out of their data in today’s highly disrupted, fast-paced, global business environment

Accelerates pipeline of innovation to eliminate data management complexities brought on by the proliferation of different types of applications, data and IT infrastructures

Orlando, Fla. and Tinton Falls, NJ – October 4, 2016 – Commvault (NASDAQ: CVLT), a global leader in enterprise backup, recovery, archive and the cloud, today introduced new innovations in software defined data services, orchestration and user interface that extend the power and breadth of the Commvault Data Platform and its market leading solutions portfolio. Launched at its inaugural customer conference, Commvault GO 2016, being held this week at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, Fl, these and other innovations announced today address the increasing demands facing CIOs, business leaders and IT decision makers to create value out of their data in today’s highly disrupted, fast-paced, global business environment.

With enterprises all across the world facing a tipping of point of disruption brought by the move to the cloud, the explosion of applications, the increasing demands for security and compliance, anywhere computing, and expanding volumes of data, Commvault has accelerated its pipeline of innovation to increase the value of its Commvault Data Platform and solutions portfolio and eliminate data management complexities.

“While the opportunities that data provides to generate value continue to increase, complexity related to controlling all this data also intensifies,” said N. Robert Hammer, Chairman, President and CEO of Commvault. “By continuing to deliver innovations that expand the ability of enterprises to manage and activate data in increasingly complex environments, Commvault enables its customers to secure powerful competitive advantages in a world where data is at the center of everything.”
Commvault’s latest innovations build on its open API architecture to provide new levels of openness, offering customers flexibility of choice in infrastructure, platform, compute and storage providers. Major innovations and capabilities launched today include:
New Simple Interface

To make it easier for users to quickly and easily configure, run and monitor their Commvault environment, Commvault today introduced a new simplified console with more extensive and powerful dashboards capabilities. As a result, users can now run more graphical, visual representations of KPIs, utilization, operational health and other metrics that can be personalized to specific roles within their organization.

Enhanced Orchestration for Powerful Automation

With more pressure than ever before on organizations to create value and insight out of their data, Commvault has enhanced its orchestration capabilities enabling users to create “Plans”, based on templates, that deliver preset IT outcomes. This powerful new capability delivered through Commvault’s modern new user interface radically simplifies the configuration of complicated operational policies, allows for easy adjustments, changes, additions & subtractions to operational policies.
Software Defined Data Services for Big Data and Other High Volume Workloads
Customers are exploring new options to scale storage and reduce their traditional legacy spend, and therefore need a platform that can scale and perform in a way that tracks to their business needs. By enhancing its platform’s software-defined capabilities, Commvault enables customers to secure the same level of performance and scale with the backup, recovery and archive of new, higher volume Big Data and digital repository workloads as they currently experience with traditional workloads. Delivered first through Commvault’s Big Data Solution, these new Software Defined Data Services free organizations from vendor lock-in, lower cost than legacy approaches, provider greater agility and flexibility, and enable them to become scalable and better performing.
The Move to the Cloud

One of the main initiatives for customers is to continually refresh their technologies to keep up with the ever-evolving industry. Today, the main refresh customers are focused on is the move to the cloud. Commvault has expanded its AWS cloud capabilities beyond virtual machines to include databases as well, further enabling enterprises to implement holistic data management strategies that protect and activate data anywhere in the enterprise, be it in the cloud, on premise, or on mobile devices. [Should we mention Oracle Cloud or Microsoft Azure sequel?
IntelliSnap Integration with Pure Storage

Building on industry’s broadest coverage of storage arrays, virtualization platforms, and enterprise applications, Commvault also announced today that Commvault IntellSnap has extended support for array-based replication on Pure Storage flash arrays. As a result, customers can maximize the value of their Pure Storage investment to efficiently capture, move, retain, find, analyze and recover data.
Reducing Cost and Increasing Efficiency through Copy Data Management

The CDM market focused on enabling the business technology user to achieve their business goals, whether that is the need to become more agile, faster to market, or to capture new customers. Historically, the space has been seen and provided as a separate solution, one that pairs with data backup and cloud solutions. However, with additional block level copy data management and support for flash storage array and cloud replication, Commvault further strengthens its customers’ ability to use Intellisnap for not just backup purposes, but to also quickly deliver snapshots and clones to dev/test, analytics and other business technology teams, improving these teams’ agility and development speed.
