Noted Odissi Danseuse Sharmila Mukerjee and her dance ensemble Sanjali to perform at Nitya Nritya dance festival
Bangalore, September 27th 2016: Leading Odissi exponent Sharmila Mukerjee and her dance ensemble Sanjali will present an Odissi dance performance at the Nitya Nritya dance festival at KEA Prabhath Rangamandira in Basaveshwarnagar on Sunday, October 2, at 7 PM.
Sharmila Mukerjee’s performances are crafted with beautiful messages that resonates with her audience. With evocative and unique themes that underlie her acts, her performances are a treat for Odissi dance aficionados. The production at Nitya Nritya dance festival will showcase her new choreographies along with renditions of original compositions of Odissi legend Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra.
Known for her versatile choreography and thematic presentations, Sharmila Mukerjee has over the years made a remarkable contribution in introducing Odissi dance form to a wider audience in Bangalore. Her dance institute ‘Sanjali Centre for Odissi dance’ trains as many as 100 students across 4 studios. With an aim to revive and celebrate Odissi, Sharmila has been instrumental in bringing Odissi to the forefront of performing arts scene in the city.
