26th September 2016, New Delhi:  Indywood Film Carnival 2016 is taking place from 24th to 27th September at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. The 4 day festival that inaugurated on 24th September is witnessing  participation from many eminent stalwarts from the film industry including names likes Shyam Benegal, Omung Kumar, Ketan Mehta, Kamal Gianchandani, CEO, PVR Cinemas, Namrata Goyal, Senior Management Jet Airways, Star Cast of Movie Pink – Andrea Tariang and Kirti Kulhari, Actor Prosenjith Chatterjee and so on.

“Project Indywood is conceived and scripted to be a blue print for the quality revolution in the Production, Distribution and Exhibition of films in India. The meaningful partnerships and alliances which are expected from the Carnival will chalk out for better, cost-effective production and post-production works. Highlights of Indywood Film Carnival:

The highlights of the opening ceremony were the Indywood Film Business Awards (IFBA), wherein Indywood recognized and felicitated the contributions of various individuals within the industry. Noteworthy work from various sectors of the film industry such as best shooting locations, distributors, highest grossing movies of the year etc. were recognized. The most coveted Golden Pen Award was received by Mr. Srinivas B Vijayaraghavan, Author of the book ‘Filmy Manager’ which   collects sharp and insightful management wisdom from the unlikely world of Hindi films and dispels it in accessible, entertaining nuggets. Mr. Akkineni Ramesh Prasad veteran businessman, film producer and chairman Prasads IMAX studios, was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Kalaipuli S Thanu, well-known film producer, was presented with the Business Icon Award. France and Seychelles bagged the awards for the best aesthetic location and emerging international shooting destination.

An insightful session on representation of women in the film industry took place and saw a very interesting panel presenting their views on the issue – Ms. Rupa Dash, CEO, World Woman Foundation, Ms. Sonja Prosenc, Writer & Film Director, Slovenia, Ms.Srishti Arya, Film Producer, Namrata Goyal, Senior Management, Jet Airways. The session was also joined by cast of recently released Movie Pink – Ms. Andrea Tariang and Ms. Kirti Kulhari.

In another landmark event, first look of the most awaited Hollywood Project on Kuwait War- Burning Wells 3D was unveiled at the Indywood Film Carnival 2016. Award winning Hollywood Director and Founder Chairman & CEO of Aries Group of Companies, Mr. Sohan Roy, revealed the first look of his ambitious project Burning Wells - a movie set in the backdrop of the infamous Kuwait War; during the Indywood Film Carnival being held at Ramoji Fim City. The movie portrays the life of a man who gets uprooted by the worst consequences of the infamous Kuwait war of 1990. The movie has been made at the cost of USD25 Million in Hollywood format in 3D using 8K technology and has been shot in three languages, Arabic, Hindi and English. 

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sohan Roy the visionary behind the & Project Indywood and Founder CEO of Aries Group of Companies, said, “Burning Wells is the first project from the Indywood stable. It is an International movie to be made by 100% Indian talent and is based on Kuwait war. The movie has been co-directed by me and IV Sasi who is one of the senior most directors in the Indian Industry. Burning Wells is a great milestone to achieve as it is first-of-its kind with a unique fundraising model and available in all technical formats. The movie is set to become a benchmark for all Indian films in the future.”

The four-day carnival is witnessing close to 15 Mega Events, over 50 panel discussions, Workshops for Directors and Producers, Niche product live demos and launches, Talent Show, Awards, Film Screenings amongst many others. The event will cross borders, break conventional finesse of movie making all while embracing its unique cultural and linguistic diaspora. Exploring regional cinema industry, Indywood Film Carnival shall also bring together the state’s cultural and diverse forms of aesthetic contents all under one single roof.
