  A National Work shop on the Road Safety is going to be conducted on 19th& 20th August 2016 at Hotel Novotel, Vishakhapatnam which is first of its kind where in eminent speakers across Globe are going to speak in the work shop on Road Safety related issues. The work shop is going to be inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri N. Chandra Babu Naidu and Chief Guest is Sri Nitin Jai Ram Gadkari , Hon’ble Union Minister (Road Transport & Highways, Shipping). Experts on Road Safety across the Country are also going to give lectures during the work shop. Participants comprise of Ministers/officials belonging to Stakeholder Departments related to Road Safety both at National level and State level-. group of Ministers on Road Safety, Supreme Court committee members on Road Safety, Transport Ministers, Transport Commissioners, Secretaries in Govt. of India, Police Officials, Officials of R&B, APSRDC, NHAI, Medical & Health Department, Municipal Administration, Transport Department etc. This is work shop is being organised by Govt. of A.P. in co-ordination with the World Bank.

Topics going to be covered during the work shop are International/National Best Practices in Road Safety, innovative Road Safety initiatives, Engineering aspects in Road Safety, Enforcement measures to be taken for improving Road Safety, and National & State level Road Safety Challenges & Responses, Plans & Priorities of Govt. of A.P. etc.

The objective of the work shop is to focus on the Brasilia declaration, wherein the target is by 2020 halve the number of global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents. This Brasilia declaration on Road Safety was second Global High Level conference on Road Safety organised by WHO in November 2015 and India also is committed to follow the Brasilia declaration by making necessary policy changes and infrastructure development related to Road Safety .
