NEW DELHI, August 17, 2016 – Nikon India, the 100% subsidiary of Nikon Corporation Tokyo, leaders in imaging technology, today announced the new AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED and AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR, two telephoto zoom lenses compatible with Nikon DX-format digital SLR cameras. Both lenses are 4.3x telephoto zoom lenses covering the 70-300mm range of focal lengths (effective angles of view equivalent to those of a lens with 105-450mm focal lengths in FX and 35mm [135] formats) and maximum apertures of f/4.5-6.3.

The AF-P lenses*1 have adopted a stepping motor to drive auto focus, ensuring fast and quiet AF. This benefit is best demonstrated with movie recording. Despite being a telephoto zoom lens, they are designed to be compact and lightweight, making them particularly portable.

Commenting on the launch of the AF-P lenses, Kazuo Ninomiya, Managing Director, Nikon India said, “At Nikon, we have always believed in designing lenses that combine innovative optics and lighter packaging. The new telephoto zoom lens will join our DX-format range, and this will definitely provide our users a new focal length experience which also comes with smooth autofocus operation from the stepping motor. Not only this, the ED glass element will also add to an enhanced photography experience for our users.”

Sajjan Kumar, Senior Vice President- Corporate Sales & Strategy, Nikon India said, “NIKKOR lenses are well-known for providing an enriching photography experience when paired with a Nikon D-SLR. The two new additions to our DX-format range have ED lens element which will subdue all types of deviations and result in outstanding optical performance. In spite of being telephoto zoom lens, they are extremely portable because of them being lightweight which provides image stabilisation.”

An ED lens element has been adopted for suppression of all types of aberration to achieve excellent optical performance.  What's more, the AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR is equipped with a Vibration Reduction (VR) function that offers image-stabilization compensation equivalent to a 4.0-stop*2 increase in shutter speed (measured in accordance with CIPA standards).
