Ghaziabad, 19 August 2016: Regular health checkups are important to keep diseases and health issues at bay. While regular screenings can prevent occurrence of any diseases, they also help in early diagnosis and speedy recovery. However, in India, rate of regular health check up is abysmally low due to financial constraints and lack of awareness.
Taking the gap into account, Columbia Asia Hospital, Ghaziabad, conducted a free multi-specialty health check camp on July 31, for the residents of KDP Grand Savanna in Raj Nagar Extension, which is home to almost 400 families. Specialists from internal medicine, cardiology, orthopedics and neurosurgery provided complimentary consultation to the residents. Besides this, services like ECG check, blood pressure & blood sugar check, height and weight check were also organized. The team of experts and doctors comprising Dr Rahul Ramteke (Cardiology), Dr Ashutosh Jha (Orthopedics), and Dr Akash Mishra (Neurosurgery) were present at the health camp where they educated people of all age groups about the importance of health and risk of diseases they are likely to be prone to, ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and methods to prevent various diseases.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rahul Ramteke, Cardiologist, Columbia Asia Hospital, Ghaziabad, said, “In India, we neglect regular health checkups; in fact, we often neglect our health too, when issues are minor and are not causing us to stop work”. Dr Ashutosh Jha, Orthopedician, Columbia Asia Hospital, Ghaziabad, added, “While lack of awareness about the importance of routine checkups is one of prime reasons for low rate of routine health checkup, the cost attached to the screenings and diagnoses discourage many people leading to delayed diagnosis.”
